The African reserve of Sigean

Nearly 4000 animals in an area of 300 hectares
Its location alone speaks volumes about the natural environment in which it operates. Nestled in the heart of Regional Natural Park of Narbonne in the Mediterranean, along the Etang de Berre and close to the Mediterranean, the Sigean African Reserve promises a total immersion from African animals. In this animal park that extends over a 300 hectare area, you can approach safely some 3,800 animals living in semi-freedom.
Created in 1974, this zoo will take you into the savannah to go to meet lions, cheetahs, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, springbok gazelles, wildebeest, eland, chimpanzees, meerkats , white storks, ostriches, pelicans, iguanas, snakes, alligators, turtles, warthogs and ducks that inhabit Africa. The Sigean African Reserve is home to over 160 species of mammals (about 900), birds (over 2000) and reptiles (900).
On foot or by car: two circuits adapted to all visitors
During your day safari in Sigean, you can make 2 tours: explore on foot and by car park. The route on foot to the African plains, ponds and Monkey Islands. The drive circuit (7.5 kilometers) through the African savannah and bush, the Tibetan Bear Park and Lions Park.

Access, times and prices
To get to the Sigean African Reserve from the campsite Mimosas Portiragnes in Hérault (60 km), take the A9 motorway towards Narbonne before arriving at Beziers. Take exit 38 (Narbonne Sud) and follow the D6009 to Sigean.
The zoo is open 365 days of the year:
- May and June: from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- July and August: from 8:30 to 7:30 p.m.
- September: from 9:00 to 19:00
- October: from 9:00 to 18:00
The price of general admission in 2019 is 32 € for adults and more than 14 years, € 23 for visitors from 4 to 14 years. Free entrance for children under 4 years. The price includes access by car and walking tour. Discounted rates are offered to disabled (13,50 €) and large families (€ 29 per adult, € 20 per child). You can get a discount if you book your tickets online on the park site.
The Sigean African Reserve has a restaurant, a picnic area and a kiosk (beverage sales).
